This Week at McCollum Park BMX:
For those that are new to McCollum, it is important to understand that the track surface is mostly clay and while it nice and smooth to race on, it gets very slippery very quickly if it gets too wet. A such, we have to watch the track conditions closely when rain is in the forecast to ensure that our riding and racing can be conducted safely.
The nice weather today may leave the track in perfect condition, but Wednesday evening’s practice (5:30-8:00) will be dependent on tomorrow’s weather.
Our plan is for practice on Friday evening (5:30-8:00), and racing on Saturday (sign-ups from 10:00-11:00), but we’ll be watching the weather closely.
To be able to communicate track conditions and their impact on our schedule, we’ve begun using a text messaging and e-mail notification service to get the word out quickly.
